My knowledge of the Russian Revolution was slightly err lacking before I saw this exhibition. However a few hours later I was an expert. I can now tell you all about Stalin, Lenin and famine... This is why I would recommend always paying the little bit extra for the audio guide at the Royal Academy - (Tate Modern audio guide is a bit rubbish). I took my mother along as none of my friends were around or remotely interested and she loved it - she ran around like a headless chicken trying to ensure that she hadn't missed a single comment on each of the paintings. I would say that the exhibition is the perfect example of how History of Art should be thought of; it was basically a history lesson with some art thrown in. Painting below is slightly blurry because the security guards were looking at me.
